Tapti
The River Tapti is an inter-state river flowing through Madhya Pradesh, Maharshtra and Gujarat. The total length of the river is 724 Kilometers with drainage area of 64874 Sq. Kms. Out of this 9804 Sq. Kms. Lie in Madhya Pradesh and 51100 Sq. Kms. lie in Maharshtra and 3970 Sq.Kms. in Gujarat.
The river rises near
Multai town in Betul district of Madhya Pradesh at an elevation of about 760 m.
above mean sea level and at latitude 21*04' 00" and longitude 78*21' 00".
Apart from the Narmada, the Tapti is the only river that flows westward and
falls into the Arabian Sea, in the Gulf of Khambat, to be precise. The 724km
long Tapti is agriculturally very important as it drains an area of over
65,145sq km spread over Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra and Gujarat.
