Kshripa
River Kshipra ordinates from village Kewadeshwar , about 14 km from Indore and meets main stem of Chambal river at Tal in Ratlam district about 8 km. Of its length passes through Ujjain town . There are four main bathing ghats on the down stream of Ujjain where devotees take bath and offer there worship.
The religious importance of Ujjain town has been attributed to the presence of age old diety Lord Mahabaleshwar on the banks of holly river shipra. Millions of pilgrims from all parts of India visit the city to take a dip a river kshipra and offer their worship to load Shiva.
Besides above, several fairs and religious congregations are held through out the year in the city. After every 12 years “Simhastha Fair” is held here, during which huge congregations of pilgrims come to this place to worship Lord Shiva. This fair is analogous to the famous “Kumbh Fair” of Allahabad and was recently held in April-May 2004.
