The IPIRTI, an autonomous body of the Ministry of
Environment and Forests provides training in saw-milling and
plywood improves skils,upgrade products quality, optimise
production cost and enhance international competitiveness of the
products.
Highlights of the activities of IPIRTI during the year are
given below :
- Five short-term courses on various aspects of Saw
milling and plywood were organised in which 20
candidates were trained.
- Twenty four candidates from different states
successfully completed the 6th one-year certificate
course in Mechanical Wood Industries Technology and 37
candidates have been admitted for the 7th course which
commenced on 10th October, 1995.
- From this year, the certificate course has been
upgraded to a Post-Graduate Diploma Scientists of
IPIRTI visit factories and mills to carry out
demonstrations of new techniques, improved process
methods, trouble shooting, maintenance and calibration
of instruments etc. Twenty such demonstrations were
conducted in various factories during the year.
- About 194 samples were tested for conformity to Indian
Standards.
- A number of technical enquries received from industry,
consultants,government departments, enterpreneurs,
researchers, etc. were attended to during the year.
