Draft Policy for Sustainable Utilisation of Agarwood [Comments Invited]

The Ministry has prepared Draft Policy for Sustainable Utilisation of Agar wood. The policy deals with the issues related to trade, current status, export and management of agar wood for sustainable utilisation. The comments of stakeholders are invited on the above draft policy through email at ashokifs91@gmail.com or sudivision@gmail.com or through fax at 011-24362016 latest by 31st March 2014.

Environment Clearance for buildings and real estate projects

Ministry of Environment & Forests vide OM dated I 1.12.2012, had constituted a Committee under the Chairmanship of Dr. K. Kasturirangan, Member, Planning Commission to review the provisions of the Environment Impact Assessment Notification (E IA), 2006, relating to granting environment clearances for roads, buildings, SEZ projects and the provisions under the OM dated 7.2.2012 related to highrise buildings. The Committee has since submitted its report to the Ministry.

Guidelines for High Rise Buildings - Modification reg.

This Ministry, vide OM of even number dated 7.2.2012 had issued guidelines linking the height of a building to the width of the road on whiCh the proposed building is to be located and also the distance of fire station from the building so that in case of emergency, the fire tender may reach the building in the shortest possible time. This Ministry has received representations from some State Governments and other stakeholders requesting for review of these guidelines stating inter alia, that the matter lies in the functional domain of the State Governments / Local Bodies and should be appropriately handled by theni. This matter was also referred by MoEF to the Committee constituted on 11.12.2012 under the Chairmanship of Dr. K. Kasturirangan, Member, Planning Commission.
