Information Dissemination


The Institute disseminates the findings of its R&D activities through publication of research papers in national and international journals, books and edited volumes (over 525 scientific papers, 153 popular articles, 30 books/edited volumes, and 2 monographs). Among others, regular publications of the Institute include: Pt. G.B. Pant Memorial Lecture by eminent thinkers and scholars, Hima-Paryavaran (biannual-newsletter), ENVIS Bulletin (biannual); Bulletin on the Himalayan Biosphere Reserve (biannual) and Annual Report. A documentary entitled "In Harmony with Nature" has been prepared, both in English and Hindi, covering the major thrust areas and programs of the Institute.

The Institute has developed unique approach in ensuring peoples’ participation in eco-conservation and development through on-spot training camps/workshops for several target groups, which include rural inhabitants, farmers, NGO's, students, teachers, army personnel, etc. Towards human resource development, the Institute continues to play an important role by training project based staff and a number of students have also received degree of Doctor of Philosophy while working in the Institute. In addition, the institute has conducted training/summer Program for students/visiting scientists from various parts of India and from countries like Nepal, Bhutan, Holland, Canada, Germany, etc.
