Record Retention Schedule in respect of Records - Common to
all Ministries /Departments.
As
per the provision contained in the Manual of Office Procedure, the recorded
(closed) files pertaining to substantive functions are to be to be retained as per Record Retention Schedule(RRS)
drawn by IWS Unit with the help of NAI, which is available on Ministry's
Web-site (under IWS Unit).

Besides the above, the recorded (closed) files pertaining to Establishment Personnel, Housekeeping, Parliament Matters
etc. common to all Departments and files pertaining to General Financial Rules
(GFR) are to be retained as per Record Retention Schedule(RRS)common
to all Ministries/ Departments drawn by Department of Administrative Reforms & Public Grievances. Recently,
the Department of Administrative Reforms
& Public Grievances has revised the
edition of RRS for facilitating proper maintenance of resources
of common nature in the area of Policy, Establishment, House-keeping etc.
A copy of this revised and updated
RRS
is being placed on the Ministry's web-site (under IWS Unit) for information
and necessary action of all concerned.
3 In
view of the above, all concerned are requested to record (close) their
files according to above RRSs. It may kindly be noted that the progress in
respect of weeding of old files/record is being reviewed in the Sr. Officers
Meetings. In this connection, the IWS
Unit's circular No.I-34011/2/2005-IWSU dated 30-01-2006 refers.
