The Ministry of Environment & Forests conducted a nation wide competition for school children as a part of India's preparation for the World Summit on Sustainable Development scheduled to be held in Johannesburg, South Africa between 26/8/02 to 4/9/02. The competition was conducted through National Museum of Natural History, NMNH and the Centre for Environment Education. To a large extent the platform of National Green Corps in States was used for the competition.
