Ministry of Environment & Forest has provided a one time endowment of Rs.6.00 lacs on September 1992 for instituting Desert Ecology Fellowship at the University of Jodhpur in recognition of the Bishnoi community's Contribution to nature conservation and to encourage studies on Desert Ecology. The Award carries a monthly fellowship of Rs.3500/- and a contingency grant of Rs.1000/- per month.
